June team

Mid-June we hosted a team from Alabama at Abaana’s Hope.  It was so awesome to have those young guys and girls join us and watch as they immersed themselves in the culture, got to know the people, and most importantly shared the gospel of Jesus over and over again.  It was a fast week with a million different things going on, but we all felt refreshed and encouraged by their presence and ministry.

The team’s agenda mainly revolved around sports outreach.  The guys conducted soccer clinics for 4 days straight with the boys at two primary schools nearby, and at the end of the week both schools came to AH to play in a tournament against one another.  The girls on the team similarly did field activities with the school girls, and Heather, one of the moms, even had an opportunity to lead the older girls in a discussion about personal hygiene.

What I appreciate so much about this group is that they didn’t get so caught up in sports that they forgot to share the gospel.  No, proclaiming the story of Christ and His plan for salvation came first, then they demonstrated it on the field in the way they loved the students.

It is our prayer that God will now move in the lives of these kids to come to a personal relationship with Him as a result of this week.

Friday at Abaana’s Hope

The tournament on Friday was a pretty big deal.  Everyone got so pumped up about it!  With the kids from both Kalamaji and Omel at AH we had over 500 guests.  I’m sad I don’t have any pictures from the game, but with the threat of rain I didn’t want to take the risk of my camera getting wet.  But it was a great match!  Kalamaji beat Omel, and then later played against the AH workers and won again!  We celebrated the occasion with goat for lunch and popcicles for snack.

Jim, Amy, Jude, Tripp, Levi, Cord, Heather, Jeremiah, Ellie, Saddler, Steve, Will, Gracie, Cole, and Camilla….You guys are world changers!  And most notably, Jesus-followers!  You inspired me to proclaim Him more during my minsitry. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your love, support and service!!

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed?  And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?  And how are they to hear without someone preaching?  And how are they to preach unless they are sent?  As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

  1. Oh Hannah! There is so much beauty in your heart and it comes out through your words! Thank you for Sharing!!

  2. Love this!! I love seeing all the pictures. And, I just made almost a hundred gospel/wordless-book bracelets for our church VBS too! It’s a really cool idea and I’m sure the kids loved it. Praying for your ministry there, Hannah!!

I'd love to hear from you!
